Today I am a well run dry

But, tomorrow, the river comes

 

And if it doesn’t?

 

Then tomorrow I am a well run dryer

And the sun is my only friend

 

And if the sun is swallowed by the clouds?

 

I will be planted in solitude

And not even weeds will grow in my misery

 

And if you’re not miserable?

 

Then I will count each blessing like a drop of rain

And hope that there is enough to quench me

 

And if there could never be?

 

Then I will know what kind of man I am

And wait for the river to come
