I don’t wanna sigh.
There’s so many,
Too many,
Friends to be made;
Days to enjoy,
And games to be played...
But my shadow does.
I don’t wanna cry.
There’s so many,
Too many,
Excuses to laugh;
Same with a smile,
‘Til others smile back...
But my shadow does.
I don’t wanna lie.
There’s so many,
Too many,
Ways it’ll hurt;
Trusts it’ll break,
Buried in dirt...
But my shadow does.
I don’t wanna die.
There’s so many,
Too many,
Reasons to live;
Relations to build,
And sins to forgive…
But my shadow does.

The shadow in your poem is like my big black dog, making sure that the bad always becomes greater than the good. A nice way to illustrate depression, MA.

Quite a unique way to describe the feelings of depression as a shadow, which I feel is a pretty accurate description. It literally follows you around everywhere and disturbs your thoughts to an extreme extent, and even though you don't want to feel like that, the shadow does. Fantastic job
