Body Armor

I believe that we all keep a distance from others. It likely has some evolutionary basis; a safety mechanism of sorts. No longer hunters and gatherers; the means by which we protect ourselves has changed over time.

Some use sarcasm as a verbal alert to stay away. Others use their dark wit to create a psychological barrier. I have observed some to use their voice and physicality to intimidate. A few will utilize their bank of useless knowledge; trying to make the less educated feel ashamed.

The ability to trust our protective instincts without limiting the possibilities of kinship remains a challenge for most. How do we make peace with our need for safety with our desire to connect?
