Playing with fire

I’m a burning building

Begging for oxygen to engulf it all

An abandoned ashen wasteland

Where dreams all come to fall

I’m a dreamer without action

I reach without grasping

A lover

Yet I have no partner to share my passion

I’m a one woman circus

I’m the lion

I’m the tamer

I have this tent that grabs attention

Still, that does me zero favors

I’ve got that subtle scent of smiles

That floods into your brain

But it’s just a feel good moment

That you project on other beings

I’ve got words for you and only you

A well that never runs dry

But I don’t get the chance to show

You might love me if we tried

So I’ll burn slowly, waiting

Hoping you’ll take this dangerous chance

And give me oxygen while you steal mine away

Like you do with every glance
