When the water's deep, we drown,

Kick against the tide, wondering why

Is this happening to me?

When the night falls, it goes cold,

And we bundle in a blanket

Not to keep warm

But to feel comfort

From the blisters on our soul.

When the rooster calls, we grow wary

Of another day spent

Wandering along aimless.

When we worry, we shake

From the trauma, the pain, the realizations

That nothing in life feels sacred.

We apologize to others and never

Ourselves

For the pain we inflict,

And while life moves forward we stay stagnant,

Lost, alone, and scared.

And we cry for what could have been,

And what still can be.

We've been down this road before,

Together and alone,

Battling demons down the road

That will always be there.
