Tend Gently-

Watch carefully, watch closely, tend gently and without pause.  For when you pause, the moisture evaporates from the soil, and the parasitic presence of death seeps in.

Watch carefully, watch closely, tend gently and without pause.  For when you pause, the sweetest, most precious roots become meals meant for kings, delivered to the most vile paupers.

Watch carefully, watch closely, tend gently and without pause.  For when you pause, the stem, once strong and true, begins to bend and reach for whatever offers it life.  This "whatever" life isn't honest or authentic, and will soon strangle the very life-breath from its prey.

Watch carefully, watch closely, tend gently and without pause.  For when you pause, the once beautiful bud, that opened its face to the sun, will close, become guarded and frightened.  Without its sun, it will soon wither and die away.

Watch carefully, watch closely, tend gently and without pause.  For when you pause, the very essence of the plant, its seed, will remain inside it, forever walled off from the world.  What a pity, what a shame, that the world will never know its beauty, its strength, its joy, simply because you did not care enough to tend.

Watch carefully, watch closely, tend gently and without pause.  I beg of you.  When it needs the touch of your hand, give it willingly.  When it needs the courage of your conviction, wrestle the damned weeds from its bed.  When it is wilting and lacking motivation, whisper lovingly and reassuringly to it, that it really IS your love, your beauty, and all that you hold true.

Watch carefully, watch closely, tend gently and without pause.  Be with the root; help it grow deep and far, reaching its full potential. Be with the stem; admire and compliment its strength and power, but be there when it needs to lean.  Be with the bud; nurture and encourage it to fully open and know that no matter it's color nor structure, it will still be the most beautiful thing you've ever seen.  Be with its essence, its seed; help it throw it around so that its allure and charm will brighten the world.

Watch carefully, watch closely, tend gently and without pause.  Be its gardener, its caretaker, its ever-present support.  You will be rewarded one thousandfold.  Its world will become your world, and a lovelier place there never was.
