Heavy is her head Heavy is her crownless head Laden with golden intent And dreams of a fairer ground For heart’s dearest numero-unos

Heavy is her crownless head Wondering how ever she blundered Licking sweat off her shoulder And singing to the little one on her back Melodies to send her to sweet sleep

Heavy is her crownless head Encumbered with a crowd-load of sleep Lurching in the dark to make her little ones sleep Up all night even with indisposition Yet with the sun she rises again For without her the day goes still

Heavy are her gracious hands Those with love punish and caress That discriminate neither her children nor her inamorato They feed, protect and provide Heavy and selfless they remain Even as they grow weary and furrowed

Heavy is her head that deserves a crown! For her mind that lingers in worry When her little ones go cold or hungry When the future seems bleak Yet strong she remains; Even as she grows weary and furrowed Oh, crown that head, mother!
