To hear the children’s laughter die,

and see the parents kneel to cry.

For the right to carry a loaded gun,

what kind of world has this become.

The oceans once were clear and full,

with multitudes of fish to pull.

Now for the love of plastic bags,

a wasteland churns where the ocean had.

The little girls we were so proud of,

they would dream about their future love.

The girls now dead with acid burns,

the honor of virginity spurned.

The food once grew in sunny fields,

we laughed and cooked our healthy meals.

How now will we feed our families,

once pesticides have killed the bees.

As the Earth warms and the waters rise,

we know we’ve caused our own demise.

This isn’t the vision I had for my son,

what kind of world has this become.
