Isn’t It Strange.

It was quiet in the house when I woke up quite alone. First stop, the cat-flap, but it’s raining out there. I won’t spend a lot of time hanging round the garden but will go back in and check out my bowl.

I sniff at the food. Hmm, not my favourite, but I’m hungry enough to not be too picky. A drink and then I’ll go and look around.

For a while I entertain myself by watching the raindrops roll down the windows. It can be quite amusing to see the birds fluttering down. They think that they are safe, but I know I have the option to head on out of that flap in the door anytime I want to give chase.

I’ll have a snooze. Maybe, by the time I wake up, someone will be around to make a fuss of me. The softest cushion on the most padded chair will make a perfect bed for now.

When I wake up it still seems that no one is home. But I can hear something, a trickling sound, coming from the kitchen. I stand up, stretch, then pad off through the door to investigate.

A simple leap up on to the counter and look, there’s something dangling from the tap. I need to make a grab for it, one paw out and....it doesn’t make sense – there’s nothing there! But I can see it again, dangling down, I’m taking another swipe and it disappears. Water, all over my paw!

I give my paw a shake, drips and drops falling in to the sink. One more go, and there’s laughter coming from the doorway. A moment of embarrassment for me, but it is soon forgotten as I jump down to the floor and wrap myself around the legs of my favourite person.
