Making Sense of It All

April C. Perry

How do you choose

To live life free
When trials and tragedy
Are all you see?

How do you speak
Of butterflies and trees
When you feel empty,
Void of wind or breeze?

How do you smell the roses...
Cotton candy... the pies?
How do you push through
The games, blame and lies?

How do you hear
God's voice through the storm?
How do you stay positive
When you keep receiving harm?

How do you taste the fruit
From the seeds you've sown?
When will you see
The plants you've grown?

"Hold on, my child...
It's all in due time.
i know you're tired of waiting
In this long, never-ending line.
I made plans for you
Before you were born
But instead of coming to me,
You prefer to live by the thorn.
Give me your burdens,
Give me your load.
I'll give you peace
Ahead for the road...
Follow me child,
Don't fight or resist.
Stay prayed up,
Stay strengthened,
persist, Persist, PERSIST!!!"
