This is a poem I wrote a few years ago that I had forgotten about. I found it and decided to post it here. It illustrates a state of mind, after years of forgotten heartbreak, a single thought
floods every memory back into your head.

That feeling. That experience. My blood, cooling and stiffening as it pushes through my veins. To think a thought could cause this. To imagine a dream could change me. To wonder if I've stumbled across her attention span for even a moment. A spark hidden beneath a breath, a voice in a crowd. An appearance on a page. I don't just remember it, I live it. I feel the same stress, regret the same words as if they had recently fallen from my lips. Who am I now? Who was I then? And while I'm tangled in these unrelenting thoughts, she finds peace. Though I may not.
