Social media is so antisocial.

Just faces on a timeline.

I always see your face on mine.

Your name constantly crosses my mind.

Yet, I haven't talked to you in a long time.

Friendship at our fingertips,

Yet everyone seems so distant.

What has changed?

We've forgotten who we truly are!

Real lives hidden behind filters

Covering up our real scars.

Nothing is transparent.

Dog tongues and bunny ears

If no one double taps

Then no one really cares.

What's a conversation?

Text me on Snapchat, even that disappears.

You got people trolling, strong behind their tweets.

I wish they’d catch me in these streets!

I know they’re just a bunch of cowards.

It's like no one thinks for themselves anymore, just a generation of followers.

Calculating the number of shares and likes til they reach their insta-fame

Tag me, but can you tell me, what's my real name?

We've been friends for 5 years, Facebook says 3.

Either way, I’m starting to wonder if you really even know me.

See, you get online and you scroll right past me.

You might see me in public and you’ll stroll right past me.

Because you’ve got thousands of friends,

But, who's really around?

Tell me what's gonna happen when the Wi-Fi goes down?

We have people arguing over whether your text bubble is blue or green

Who really cares? The best we can do is communicate through phone screens?

Yet, I see you read my message, but you can't even take 10 seconds to get back to me?

Claiming your phone was dead, sad the lifeline of our relationship depends on a battery.

I can't be the only one in this world who wants more.

You tag me in the memes every day and we don't even talk no more.

You just don't have the time.

All you ever do is hit me with one word replies.

That really the best you got? Or just what you think I deserve?

We're supposed to be friends. Is that all I'm worth?

Come on let's do better.

Can we at least sit down and talk?

I want us to be strong like a rock and not like a signal down in stormy weather.

You have these fancy phones with the touch screens, but when's the last time you've been touched?

Held someone's hand, been embraced in a warm hug?

We need to get back to that quality time, face to face, tangible love.

You see, friendship really is at our fingertips.

We just need to unplug.
