I've left my home behind me. It's grown and made memories without me. Created new businesses. Given birth to new creatures.

I ponder on its new leaves and crime. Has the crime gone up, or has it killed them all? Gutted every hungry bear and angry junkie? Dismissed every annoying trend and hashtag?

These new things grow on and on inside me, In my home without me, I'm struck, pondering All the beds that are empty without my smell, Without my sex, and muscle aches.

I've left and cannot return, No windows to peak through, No whispers from natives I've cut ties with. Forced to assume and regret. Raped into madness of the unknown.

Moving forward with trees behind me, That grow without my water or words, Without my comfort and age.

Placid.
