Goodbye Common Sense

Innocents in bygone days did flower

With Common Sense ascendant in her power,

She strut this Sceptred Isle with wings outspread

Invoking life and joy but never dread

Her children, truth and justice owned the land

And Britain understood her righteous brand,

So teachers and the clerics honed her name

And honest men would take their share of blame

But Human Rights, garrotte in hand he spoke

With Litigation’s help they saw her choke

One thousand years of wisdom blown away

Left lawyers and the bigots holding sway.

Now people fear for reason and their health

Lest Litigation come to steal their wealth

So all, a Victims tale they clearly tell

And compensation paves the road to Hell!
