I love the modern era, it’s a wonderful place,

A computer in my pocket, and I’ll never be lonely.

An instant connection, so many apps to choose from,

It’s integral to my daily life, like tying up my shoelaces.

They say that online relationships, are fake like plastic,

It’s impossible to fall in love, without being face to face.

Can’t be intimate through text, it’s just all in your head,

But those people, don’t realize that it can be fantastic.

Don’t try to invalidate my feelings, cause they were real,

A thousand miles between us, that doesn’t mean anything.

Our digital love was so real, sometimes it was all that we had,

And at the time, my heart was filled to the brim with zeal.

We first got connected, on a snowy day in March,

I knew from the start, that we had a natural chemistry.

A pairing written in the stars, an Aquarius and a Gemini,

We filled in our empty hearts, gave them a good recharge.

The intensity ramped up so quickly, we were falling in love,

Didn’t even know your appearance, captured by your personality.

The way that you made me feel, it restored my vitality,

There’s no way that you can say, that our love was imaginary.

Despite the distance, we both did our best to be intimate,

Sex in SMS can’t compare, but it was enough for us.

Long distance relationships, are a lot more fucking work,

A modern online love story, that’s what we managed to create.

At times, it felt like we were living a Disney movie romance,

Like after all of our suffering, that we’ve finally gotten a happy ending.

My face in my phone, another millennial too obsessed with the internet,

In reality I was so in love, despite how it looked, at first glance.

When it was all said and done, my heart broke into pieces,

Despite the internet connection, I never felt so fucking alone.

If I was so broken, how can you say that it was imaginary,

We couldn’t fix each other, but this love is what we both needed.

They say that online relationships, are fake like plastic,

It’s impossible to fall in love, without being face to face.

Can’t be intimate through text, it’s just all in your head,

But those people, don’t realize that it can be fantastic.
