it was bright but like
my brain put on sunglasses
i've seen it before
the wrongness is so striking
with half the light gone today

there's much more to it
it is the template i used
to pick up these shells
the empty ones i've found here
they guard the way to my home

it isn't just half gone
the bag of bones i carry
it's the weight added
dimming my own light within
evidenced by my actions

no there's even more
the twisting twirling tempest
for two of our own
the wrongness of where they are
led by the same bag of bones

the wrongness is so striking
with half the light gone today
