All In The Wash.

It was the shampoo of shampoos. At least that was what it claimed to be. Hair that was silky soft, tangle-free and so easy to style in any way you chose was guaranteed. But the real clincher was that all this would be gained by just one wash every seven days.

Janice didn’t jump at it, not initially. All these promises did not come cheap. She could purchase ten bottles of her usual brand for the price of just one single bottle of this new super-shampoo.

The television advertisements seemed to be non-stop. Every magazine had full-page spreads dedicated to its benefits, not to mention the internet. Everyone, it seemed, was raving about it. When a local store offered ‘Buy one, get one half price’, Janice decided that she simply had to give in and give it a go.

It smelled nice, fresh, kind of herbal. When she squeezed some on to her hair and rubbed, it lathered nicely. It was only her imagination that there was more hair than usual being washed in the water towards the drain. And all those strands in the towel? Well, they were always there; she just did not usually notice them.

It was only when Janice got out the following morning to find all of her remaining hair left on the pillow that the truth finally took root. This new shampoo, the answer to every hair problem, had made every single hair on her head fall out.
