Much can be learned from the kindness of a meal.

how it abides in the expanse of sacrificial benevolence

never the center of attention, yet the centerpiece.

rich and charming for a moment

only to give itself away.

Once whole and radiant it gives itself to brokenness;

a dying that we may live.

its weakness is strength in our bones

its sorrow becomes joy in our soul and laughter in our hearts.

its meekness the mirth that shines deep within;

our eyes aglow in firelight!

He was divided that we may be unified,

He came undone for us to come together

the bitterness on his lips, in turn, sweet honey on ours.

His hunger became our fulfillment.

The grace we are given is to set the table,

pull up a chair,

to dine in this space of Divine Deliverance.
