A poem of encountering truth and lies in fairytales.

Musical escape

Long live the Queen!

Tell me a story,

Of love and heartache!

The knight fights dragons,

The princess sleeps,

The King is a coward

The Queen, she weeps

Fairtytales,

Notions of hope.

But under the covers

Layers of smoke

Singing song,

Of lives so dull

Of perils retold

Of true love’s kiss

What layers of smoke

See the truth

Bits of wisdom

Beneath what’s spoken

Sinister lie,

Delusional girls

Unrealistic expectations

Now the real world

What then do we gleam

From tales we know

Warning us to go slow

To stay away from the sun

But, we can see victory,

Love in their eyes

Hope in disaster

Find truth and lies.
