Eye To Eye

You don’t really love me do you?”

Of course I do. You know I do.”

No, if you did you’d want to be with me all of the time.”

I spend a lot of time with you.”

Maybe, but you don’t want to share your life with me. You don’t want to make it ‘real’.”

Get married, you mean? Tie ourselves together?”

Well, isn’t that what other people do?”

I’m sorry, but I don’t love you that way.”

No. I know. I’m not good enough for you, am I! In spite of the fact that I would do anything for you, you can’t help being ashamed of me.”

That’s not it at all, and you know it!”

I’d be proud to be seen with you, you know. But still, you reject me. Well, take a good hard look at yourself. Do you really think that you are so much better than me? You think that you are going to attract someone better? Well, maybe you should!”

Don’t go. It’s not like that at all. The truth is that I love you too much. Marriages, well, they rarely last but friendships, real friendships, can last a lifetime.”

So you say, but I’m still not convinced. Not really. I know you think you can do so much better than me.”

Come here. Don’t cry. I do love you, and I will love you forever, I promise.”

Until you find yourself a wife!”

No, forever.”

Well, maybe you do, but the truth is that I love you more.”
