Numb Shame

Can you hear the crying?
As my heart bursts into fire?
A soulless automaton,
Why can’t I feel?

Every kiss is forced,
The word love is as a lie.
Please make my numbness go away
It’s too much to take.

I kneel in the filth of my prison.
No sound but my shame around.
Drag me to my knees, monster!
I have nothing to lose.

Rain pelts me through the bars,
The hollow drains me from the core.
"Water" I rasp. But Shame just stares.
Numb.

Lips crack and I feel the flow.
Even crimson leaves me now.
Dust I am, and will prove to be.
