Tell me what death is like,

a docile whisper,

a gentle caress of someone's hair,

a purr of a delighted kitten.

Tell me what death is like,

a velvet fabric flapping in the wind,

the touch of a baby's soft, smooth skin,

a sweet-tempered toddler asking

for answers she can never understand.

Tell me what death is like,

before you go,

into some beyond we can never understand.

Tell me what death is like

on your own accord,

please,

before time decides I learn on my own.

Tell me what death is like,

icy cold and feral,

barren,

Tell me what death is like

dark and foreboding,

witholding

secrets that can never be shared.

Tell me what death is like.
