Black Water

It’s cold outside, yet in my mind,

I feel as if I’m out of time,

it’s now bedtime,

yet I’m outside,

(5) put that aside, and close your eyes.

Standing in the pouring  rain,

and that is where you shall remain.

feet submerged in the water,

Your standing in the black water,

As you look down, you barely see,

(10) The black water grab both your feet.

it pulls you in,

you hold your breath,

surround yourself with thoughts of death.

With opened eyes,

(15) you’ll soon realize

that everyone you love will die.

And soon you too will fossilize

like birds of prey or butterflies.

Once you wake up, the sun will rise,

(20)  soon death will come to finalize.

Alone you’ll be, yet here you are,

inside your mind, drowning you are.

Inside those thoughts, I did get lost,

I felt my stomach turn to knots,

(25) I heard gunshots,

I closed my eyes,

I felt like I was paralyzed.

Trapped inside,

I couldn’t move,

I wasn’t sure what else to do.

(30)  I knew I didn’t have a choice,

but deep inside, I had a voice.

For my life, I fought so hard,

I will remain forever scarred.

I was set free and now I see,

(35) this was apart of destiny.
