Corn on the farm

Desperation during the Great Recession

Little Bill, stealing corn from the farmers

Junk cars and old mail boxes--

Rain like tear drops running wild

Tractor sits all alone, remembering

Days of eternal youth

It won't be long when

The pumpkins line up for battle

Cold October and the ground becomes

Cold and hard, birds peck at the golden season

Corn on the farm

Complete and delete

Loaded upon the weary shoulders

Of tired tractors and men

Playing harmonicas in dirty barns

Worried about crying babies

And a wife, just too tired

To make love to

Wrinkled hands, beef jerky

Calloused life

Hardship for me and you

Devil I will show you

A billion corn stalks

And a wife, just too tired

To make love to

There is corn on the farm
