Let’s Talk About Profile Pics.

When we join Booksie we all have the choice of picking a profile pic. Once chosen it can of course be changed by editing your profile at a later date. Many members choose to use no picture at all, and that is fine; this is, after all, a writing site and the posts that you make are what counts.

People have an abundance of reasons for selecting the pictures that they use. Some use their own photos, some use images that reflect the kind of writing they do, while others go more for fun, or perhaps for something they aspire to.

I use a photo of my one of my own cats. I make no secret of the fact that I find both cats and dogs easier to understand than people. It is my own cat, and the photo was taken with my own camera. The picture is not CCO and I own the complete copyright; anyone that uses their own photographs also owns the copyright unless they choose to make it ‘free to use’.

One word of warning; if you select an image to represent yourself from a site such as Pixabay, you must understand that anyone can use the same image for anything. You may find the image posted as a cover; or you might even find yourself as part of an army of bots. You have absolutely no rights to make a complaint if such a thing should arise.

These are just a few points to bear in mind when selecting a picture to represent you on your profile. It is not compulsory and many members use no image at all.
