I keep my broken dreams in a jar on the top shelf in my closet, behind my porcelain doll, next to my high school yearbooks. I keep them there to remind me to sulk every now and then. Maybe one day I'll gain the contentment to take that jar to a field of flowers, unscrew the lid and release a slew of butterflies. Or maybe one day I'll drop it from the Eiffel tower and see it held only ashes all along. Or maybe I'll take it to the ocean and send it away for the stranded to find a taunting bit of hope that'll satisfy them enough to borrow a few more days of life. They say somethings you just need to let go, they say some things you fight for. So, until I decide whether to fight or surrender, I'll keep those dreams in a jar on the top shelf of my closet, behind my porcelain doll, to the left of my yearbooks.
