Trusted through July

In all of Chicago

Busted down the line

Shipped off to another time zone

The August flowers die

With everything I know

Some say it’s just the time

To reap what we sow

I’m back in September’s line

To see the big case close

October’s when everything dies

A promotion is put on hold

November’s the month of denial

The bottle wards off the cold

In the last month, I meet my time

The bullet grips me and I fold

The new year sees me into a hole

Guns sound off down the line

I left without achieving my goal

No promotion in sight

Now the darkness comes to enfold

I’m silent for all time

My killer salutes the flag I hold

His allegiance was the same as mine
