There's nothing I can say to mend the damages,

to wrap the wounds,

or give rest to the unending circles of doubt.

For life is about risk,

and risk is what we have taken

climbing this mountain

without proper items,

or with them, but without the knowledge

on how to use them.

There's nothing quite as horrid

as walking through the flames

drenched in gasoline,

yet this is what we've done,

chained,

thoughts of freedom

fleeting.

There's nothing I can say to sooth the burns,

to burst the blisters,

to ease the hurt,

for I know somewhere along the lines

this is my fault.
