CIVILIZED

Are we civilized when oppression exists, Or is it just a word used to infer superiority; Our people judge, strip, and inflict injury upon its own, Live among us and lead without clarity. The blind
leading the blind, So prevalent in our society; It seems the only refuge from the madness, Lies somewhere deep down inside of me. Lack of compassion all around us, It brings tears to my eyes; Human
beings not being human, And I don't even think they realize. Their eyes are open, But the people are asleep; Most of the hearts are closed,  As their brothers and sisters weep. Just look
inside the prisons,  All I see is division;  Treated like caged animals,  Because of one bad decision.  Unappreciated and humiliated,  While others are heavily
medicated;  The accusations are exaggerated,  To further isolate and keep separated.  Why do we alienate, When we're all created the same;  Classify and label,  Point the
finger in blame.  It is completely insane,  To inflict so much pain! Nobody really has to lose,  For someone else to gain.  We are all leaves from the same family tree,  A
truth in our roots to be realized;  Until we can grow together interdependently,  We should not call ourselves civilized!
