Betrayed (Chimera Allusion)

It’s not like we shared something special

Or as if we hung out all of the time

In life friends are essential

But you are no longer one of mine

With human hands we ran entangled

With falcon wings you made me soar

I suppose it was part of your elaborate ploy

To make a façade of friendship sure

The more we flew the closer we became

The stars make sweet even the cruelest of lies

I shivered the instant I saw your fangs

And I couldn’t bear to see that look in your eyes

Eyes like malachite swirling with deep green

Your falcon wings carried me swiftly above the clouds

With fangs of the Taipan you repeatedly stuck

I find you a coward to do such where you cannot be seen

Once all was done I hung numb in your arms

It wasn’t over for you had one more task

Further up in the sky you climbed, higher towards the moon

As a last request I had a question to ask

So I asked of you why you had told me a lie

Why so brutal this betrayal in such a painful way

I will never forget what you said to me that day

Just before you let me fall you flashed a bright smile

With a cheery tone you were proud to convey

“…Because I’m a Chimera and this is how Chimeras play!”
