Death Notice

Mother is obsessed with death, she spends large

amounts of her time reading the obituary notices

in the newspaper, searching for old friends and

acqaintances, to see if they have suffered an unfortunate

demise. You would think that someone with a heart

condition like my mother would not obsess so much

about death, but maybe in a perverse way she thinks

that by reading the names of the deceased she once

knew, she has conquered death!

My mother is also obsessed with my health, ever since

I was a child she had been over protective and intrusive

into my life. And now that I have left home and am

married it has become worse! If she didn't have so

much money I'd tell the bitch to piss off and mind her own

business! I'm just sick to death of her worrying about me.

That's all she seems to do, worry and fixate on death.

But now with this huge morgage on the marital home

that I have acquired, I think I have found the solution to my

financial problems and her obnoxious behaviour. In a

what if moment, I realised that if I placed my name

in this week's obituary notices I might soon become a

rich man. My mother would die of shock upon reading

that I had died!

But I have just received a phone call from my doctor,

and the news is not good, after my annual check-up

he wants to see me urgently. Apparently I have inherited

my mother's heart defect and my prognosis is terminal!
