Anger saved my life

Anger has sustained me

My emotions were silenced

Gagged to the point of suffocation

Shrunken to unrecognizable fragments

Yet anger became my home

A familiar friend

I studied it intricately

Mastered it

I held it close to my heart

Guarded it with my entire being

Cherished it as my most prized possession

My secret strength like the hair of the Nazarite

The spark that ignites my fire in a blaze of glory

Fury like no other

Raging until it burns hot enough to purify my soul

Tears fall to quench the flames

Embers turn to ash

My anger has sustained me

It has hurt me and healed me

Blessed me and cursed me

Breathed life and death in the same utterance

Why do I love this anger so?
