The Barefoot Child

By Carla Charter

 I was the barefoot child,

The wanderer,

The out all night

Staring at the starser,

The ocean called,

and I called back,

The waves beckoning my restless soul,

The sirens tune was always there,

No matter what age or what time,

My soul got lost,

in the green depths of a forest,

Or the laziness

of a field of daisies,

For I was the barefoot child of life.

As I was,

As I am,

As I will be,

For there I find my solace,

My peace,

my joy

and my home.
