Gliding through the dark sky,

Flies the winged king o’er the night.

Sounding an unearthly cry,

Proclaims to all his might.

He haunts the pastures and the fields,

Surveys his empire from the skies.

The stranglehold of tyranny he wields,

The unwary subject dies.

In the bright hours of the day, in a barn he sits,

High upon his rafter throne.

His judgement does not exist,

Until the daylight has flown.
