I often wondered if I would smile again. I'm not talking the smile if you heard or saw something funny. I mean that ear to ear, head to toe, heart and soul smile. Through numerous years of self-hatred, pain, sadness, loneliness, anorexia, worthlessness it was hard to even fake that heard something funny smile. But then on Friday June 2nd, 2006 I was blessed with that ear to ear, head to toe, heart and soul smile. That smile that was placed upon my face was in the shape of a 7 lb 9 oz baby girl. My world was changed. It was about my daughter now. My smile was starting to hide during some rough years between 2010-2017. In 2010 my husband just up and left us, 2011 my father passed away, and 2013 my uncle passed away and I was laid off. It was hard to see the positive in anything except for my baby girl. My great big smile just about faded between the years 2014 and 2017. My severe depression and anorexia reared its ugly heads. I was in the hospital away from my daughter. What type of role model was I being for that girl that brought back my smile? A broken down influence? Absolutely not! So now the year 2018 my non pretending smile is back. I admit is it is a daily struggle to not give into these intrusive thoughts and actions. I still have days that I do not get out of bed. All these trials since 2006 may have caused my true smile to take cover, but it was never fully hidden. For my daughter, now 12, was never far from me. She was always on my mind and in my heart. Throughout all these dark times there waiting for me with open arms is my hero, my smile, my forever baby girl!
