A cry slow and deep

tears on a flushed cheek

never have I wanted anything more

than to steal that wonderful thing from you now

to feel something

anything at all

inside of me

a thousand screams

all as silent as heaven must be

make me feel something

the hollow ache

so maddening

is the only shelter

the only comfort

single refuge

I imagine what it must be like

to be anything more than this

I am a ghost in a world of laughter

a fading memory in this place born of amnesia

I am a fleeting thought on a troubled breeze

take this nothing and make it everything

or leave it here to rest in the mud

where the peaceful sounds of the burrowing worms can offer some peace while I sleep.
