And I guess you could say
that from the moment my memory
of you, had become
your back,
you had taken a part of me.

A piece departing
in neglectful hands.
You wouldn’t care for it.
You’d set it in the window sill
and watch it die.

Memories fading
in a wash said delicate
you made my skin red.

My fires never subsided.
Sparks that initiated emotions
grew to new heights
as your absence left ashy remnants.

Tears marked an aged face
as blood slashed a burly forearm
and a heart fractured repeatedly.

The loss impended the destruction
of a once bright man.
Who’s hollow being remains an echoing chasm
of a long forgotten love.
