Jack's Prize

2017

Winter comes to freeze my heart

And wrap around my soul;

Old Jack Frost, he claps his hands

To see the prize he stole.

Ice forms on my mantelpiece;

The coals have all grown cold;

I stare into the lifeless hearth

At all the hearts I've sold.

I see the ones that I've betrayed,

The warmth that I have chilled,

The smiles that froze at my behest

As my own coffers filled.

And as my icy soul is bared,

My heart exposed in whole,

Old Jack Frost, he turns away,

And drops the prize he stole.
