Cat-A-Cake

We’re in the mood for baking,

but you, you’re going slow,

we thought we’d make a start on it,

we’re not patient, don’t you know.

We’ve shaken out some flour,

snowy white, shows where we tread;

look, across the table,

see all of it we’ve spread.

Now this egg has got us thinking,

should we leave it here to hatch,

but it’s really much more fun to

set it rolling and play catch.

You said the dough needs kneading,

well, who better now than us,

you only need to pet us

and give us a great big fuss.

It sets our feet to kneading,

with purrs and show of claw;

we’re willing for another go

if you think it needs some more.

But look, she’s looking angry;

we can tell she’s kind of cross,

here within the kitchen

it seems like she’s the boss.

So we look up with our kitten eyes,

and see her anger fade.

She’ll give to us a drop of milk,

then clear up the mess we made.
