Hello B ... can you hear me?
I ain't hearing ya ...
Ok, hear what g'wan ...
Wait ... lemme call you back in 5
I need to go check dz people that jus now come to d beach
I'll call ya right back
Hello B ...
I'm jus getting in a taxi to go up d road
Lemme call you back when I reach
Twelve hours later, my phone vibrates
Good morning B ...
Sorry, I had a bowl of soup when I reach home las night
Ohhhh gawd, dat soup ... it was good boy!
I went to call you, I sat down on d bed
I done, I knock out cold
How was your night?
Hold on ... hold on
Ring ... Ring ...
I gotta take dis call
This guy owes me real money
And he stick'n ...
He said he would check me Wednesday
Today is Friday & I ain't hear'n from him yet
Lemme call you back B ...
Hours later my phone begins to vibrate again
Hello B ...
So hear what g'wan
My brother sick, I have ta fill in as captain today
I wish you were here with me today B ...
I'll call you later when I come off d sea
Nine hours later ...
My phone begins to vibrate again
Hello...
Hey B ...
I jus now come off d boat
I'm not gonna hang around
I'm jus now ... I'm gonna grab a taxi
And go up the road one time
So I'll call you when I reach
The next morning comes
The sun is up & shining
I've had my shower
I'm dressing for work
My phone unusually quiet this morning
It must've been a late night in 'Bago
How many nights in a row is it now?
Where he's promised to call
And yet each night the phone remains silent
Each morning it's the same message
Good morning B ...
Sorry, I was so tired & fell asleep
How was your night?
I laugh out loud & pretend it's okay
But it's really not okay
This is my most subtle way of bringing it up
Sharing via prose ... what's really bothering me
This is what I see & what your actions tell me
Lawd ... I jus don't know where I fit in your life
We don't seem to have time to really talk
It's my constant struggle on a daily basis
To inherently connect with the one I love
In the most intimate of ways: by communicating
