Love is the drug that I choose to take,
Loving this hard has caused me to break.
It has made me hurt; has made me cry,
Has turned me crazy and caused me to lie.
I am too small for the feelings I feel,
No love is divine; no one’s ideal.
I’m hurting myself; I am aware,
I’m too codependent and it’s unfair.
Needy and clingy; unable to leave,
Is this me? Or what I was led to believe?
Too many mind-games, can’t take it at all,
Too many factors to make me fall.
But I’m too small; too small for this love,
A hopeless dreamer staring above.
A susceptible heart with all open doors,
My pride is too weak to battle with yours.

Lisbeth I don't believe in the negative emotions you write about yourself because I see a person who has a large heart, and the love you show is even larger. It seems that you want to crash and burn, but I'm going to catch you when you do, because I won't let you fall to the ground. I'll be honest with you - I don't know what words I can tell you because any supportive words are fiction, while your emotions are non fiction. These emotions are real life. I support you to the moon and back, and I care about you alot, so I'm going to find the day that will make you happy again. My promise to you. I cannot believe these negative words that you write about yourself, because I care too much. You deserve a place in the world, a happy place in the world. The poem is raw, bittersweet, beautiful and real life. I hate reading about when you feel down, but I love reading everything you write. Be strong beautiful Lisbeth :)
I always fit right in with your words, Lis. It's like you are speaking on behalf of me. Powerful stuff. Nicely done.
Beautiful and complicated love, can be chaotic and hard and make you do things you wouldn’t do otherwise.
An excellent poem, jaylisbeth. Sometimes feelings can feel too big, too over-whelming, that's a feeling I can relate to.
Get to that heart, and let those poems come out. Beautiful rhyming. people who write about love knows that it has a negative side.
See, kids, drugs are bad, okay? Excellent, J. B!
An excellent poem, I can tell that it really came from the heart. The last two lines are a highlight for me, it sums up the entire message of the poem well. Excellent work
Lis, you're not too small. No emotion is too big for someone; it's about how you manage it. Like breathing while you run, you need to make sure you take in enough oxygen to keep you fueled for the next lap of the relay. You need to pace yourself. It's not easy and takes practice, as well as constant attention, but much like when you run, you can love for as long and as completely as you want, you just need to pace yourself and be sure you're prepared for it - a runner needs the right pair of runners and a lover needs the right lover to match their desires.
You're not too small for anything, my dear, except maybe to reach the top shelf at a grocery store. But aren't we all too small to do that? ;)
Nice poetry Jay, your heart strings tugged! Keep away from the mind games though. Stay strong. Usianguke
Very relatable ! Nicely written, Lisbeth.
Have been away on holiday, JB... catching up on stuff I've missed! You're not too small, but you are vulnerable and there are some rotters out there! Always remember the wise old saying... don't let your heart rule your head. A heartfelt poem full of raw emotion and beautifully written.
Very relatable. Love can make us very weak sometimes. Great poem Jay!
These folks have the right idea. I like them. They’re your boosters when I’m not around, lol. But yeah, girl! Pride and pride is a tough mix.
