I’ll step back; I will stray,

It’s just best to stay away.

And flee the bullshit all round,

The one that I have tried to drown.

Toxic “friends” causing sparks,

Always with hurtful remarks.

Saying: “You don’t look the same”,

“You’ve gained weight; who’s to blame?"

Mother’s friends are quite cruel,

Vanity’s their only rule.

But I’ll step back and move along,

Never been quite as strong.

I won’t be angry or hold a grudge,

At least my solitude will not judge.

In the end, I’m alone by choice,

And in the silence, I can hear my voice.

I can drown in the music or perhaps cry,

And I can thrive or slowly die.
