Trees turning roaring reds from vibrant verde

And shedding their leaves down upon me

Like rain, stand all around me stalwart, unheard,

The silence of the forests fiercely freeing.

The crunch of twigs beneath my boots cracks

The only sound in the simple forest around

Me, and for a moment I am lost in a map

Of old, where ancient faeries dance upon the ground

And where the old gods still rule and where

I can find peace for once, treading leafy dirt

Like a child lost, while the cool forest air

Swirls and twirls around me, reminding me of Earth

And all her beauty. Bashfully I dance through trees

And sing a song of fae for those who lose themselves

In the woods as I do on this day. For I am free

Within these oaks and cedars and pines and swells

Of leaves that tumble all around me tumultuous, calm

That sing me a psalm of the wanderers few

Who have tread these trees as I do now, without qualm

In quaint forests of roaring reds and bursting hue.
