I remember when I was a girl and you called me your little mermaid as I played in the ocean, swaying back and forth attempting to make my hair flow through the water. Well if I’m a mermaid, then you’re a siren. Your beauty was memorizing and attracted a naïve little girl too close to your rocky shore. With its jagged rocks and half sunken ships. You called me in assuring that everything was fine. You would keep me safe. But as soon as I was close enough, close enough to you, and far enough from shore to turn back, you pulled me in. Tearing me apart with your talons made of words, that cut deeper than any violence ever could. As you pulled me deeper, farther away from the oxygen of a regular life, you continued to tear me apart. Limb from limb until there was barely anything left. Your words destroying everything I used to be.  As my lungs fill with water and my tears add to the saltiness of the ocean I have one thing to ask. Have you been satisfied? Are you full? Or now that there’s nothing left of me will you move on to your next unknowing victim. Although I ask this question I already know the answer. You will never be satisfied. You are a forever-hungry monster that gorges itself on the misery of others. This is who you are and who you will forever be.
