The Red Line

In the modern educational system, a red line is used to indicate an error. The bright color specifically formulated to gain attention and to alarm the eyes. Often paired with a "See Me" notation; bringing intense anxiety to the young learner. A simple mark and  a defeated child.

I hate red lines! As a child, it meant a consequence from an overbearing adult. As a teacher, I have chosen not to use this form of correction. Knowing all too well, the impact it may leave upon the young mind and impressionable spirit.
