No Longer Known”

I stand here.
Day after day night after night.
Feeling there's no end in sight.
I know you see me yet you walk on by.
Won't even look me in the eye.
You in your Gucci shoes and your Armani suits when will you see
Only a day separates you from me?
One pink slip and you could suddenly be
One of the faceless, nameless
One of the countless who feel hopeless.
When did I lose my place
Stop being considered part of the human race?
No longer known suddenly disowned
By those I called my own.
So look at me
Really look and see.
See how easily it could be
YOU standing here
Watching as others pass by
Not looking in your eye
What will you do?
What will you say?
Will you change how you treat me today?
