I write to keep my remaining sanity to keep you and this world from breaking me. I sing my song and I sing it off key. I don't really care how you or anyone else sees me. So I hear you whisper how angry a black woman I can be. Walk my journey and watch closely. See the doors I have to break through. The doors they open for you. Then say my rage  Is misplaced . When my color  is thrown  in my face. Tell me I'm so unnecessarily bitter and unkind. My eyes these angry strangers seem to never find. Oh, it must be nice to walk around with all this born respect. So  you spew apologies for your willful neglect. So you're angry that I'm not broken by your culture of lies. Feeling defeated that I still get up to your surprise. I wasn't born from a womb not strong from rage. I wake up every moment to turn another page.
