My legs were aching, it was a throbbing pain.

My lungs burned like fire, that wouldn’t even be put out by the rain.

My short, damp blonde hair stuck to my reddened cheek.

They were after me, I dare not speak.

My accent would surely give away.

How far from home I did stray.

Pushing through the city crowd.

The city was big and loud.

This fact was to my advantage.

Perhaps getting away I can manage…

Big, muscular soldiers dressed in all black.

Armed and ready for attack.

I knew exactly why they wanted me.

For I held the key.

With me on their side this war would be finished.

Ha, like that will happen! I’d rather diminish!

They took the only person I loved,

Into a cell she probably was shoved.

Or even worse, to her certain doom.

I remember living through such gloom.

That’s why I cannot go back.

I’d rather die, than be dressed in black.
