A Painful Thanks

Thankful for tension headaches and blindside heartbreaks,

For utter aloneness and shattered boneness.

Thankful for chaotic thoughts and stomach knots,

For wandering lost and the bite of frost.

Thankful for overwhelming fears and showers with tears,

For being scared of ahead and those cuts that bled.

Thankful for tired sleeps and doubt that creeps,

For feeling stripped and thirsty-lipped.

Thankful for all of these gaping pains,

For without them, I would never know the fullness of life.
