“It’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”

- Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird

It holds an innocent soul,

looked as if a ridiculous fool.

It brought nothing but peace,

now no longer will be at ease.

Did nothing but commit a peaceful act,

but in the end, it was attacked.

We were told as kids it's a sin to reply with a lie

and learned it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.

So why blame the most honorable?

Having an advantage to leave them vulnerable.

Why point the gun,

without knowing they're the one?

The assumptions will always run in their minds,

and for that, they forever will be blind.

Sightless to what is truthfully right,

having an urge to stand until they won the fight.

So, why not leave the innocent be,

To let the mockingbird fly free?
